Educational literature delivery desk has a fund of educational literature recommended by curricula for use in the educational process for students at all faculties and forms of education. Its main task is to fully satisfy the needs of users in the educational literature.
Educational literature delivery desk is doing the following work:
re-registration of library users;
lending sets of educational literature to students and listeners for cycle classes, for a semester or an academic year;
Has a fund of scientific, popular science and reference literature.
Department’s functions:
unified point of registration: registering and handing out the university library membership cards to faculty (members), postgraduates, staff members and other categories of readers;
The department offers classical and modern fiction stories and novels by Belarusian, Russian and foreign authors. Books are organized by genres: historical novels, detective stories, science fiction, adventure stories, romantic novels, children’s literature, folklore, and biographies. The collection is supplemented with new arrivals and donated books.
During books exhibitions dedicated to any cultural event, for example, a writer or any story’s jubilee, new arrivals along with interesting publications of previous years are also exposed.
The fund of the reading room contains educational literature on the studied disciplines, as well as dictionaries, handbooks and encyclopedias. All categories of users are served in the reading room and their re-registration is carried out. Also thematic exhibitions and exhibitions for significant and memorable dates are organized here.
The fund of this reading room includes journals on biological and chemical sciences, medicine, social and humanitarian disciplines, as well as republican and local newspapers. The fund also contains a fund of technical normative legal acts (GOSTs, technical regulations, codes of established practice, etc.).
The fund of the reading room of scientific workers contains dissertations, thesis abstracts, reports on research work, collections of scientific papers, conference materials and documents on electronic media. Access to electronic databases is provided in this reading room as well as training seminars and consultations on electronic information resources using are held. Various categories of users are served.
Reading Room of Foreign Literature has educational and scientific medical literature, literature on natural and social sciences in foreign languages. The fund covers all branches of medicine and related sciences: surgery, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, obstetrics and gynecology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, dermatology, histology, pediatrics, cardiology, parasitology and others. The reading room contains literature on hygiene, genetics, biology, botany, biochemistry. Users are offered various reference publications, textbooks, study guides, monographs, atlases.
The Rare Book collection exceeds 1000 items, including publications that date back to the XIX century. The oldest book of the collection is called “Surgical anatomy charts printed with the permission of His Imperial Majesty Nicholas I” by Ilya Buyalsky. It was published in St. Petersburg in 1852.

Participates in the corporate project for analytical bibliography of periodicals BelAr, as well as a contributor into the corporative database “Scientists of Belarus”. The Department also maintains a database of works of employees of "VSMU", articles from periodicals and collections "Periodicals", provides bibliographic maintenance of lists of publications on the personal pages of teachers on the university website and issues personal and subject bibliographic indexes.

release of information products: "Information annotated bulletin of new acquisitions", "Periodicals entering the VSMU library".
